Winemaker Notes
Region:
Marlborough -Awatere Valley
Recommended Food:
Great with seafood or fish meals. Try with fresh oysters!
Recommended Cellaring:
Best enjoyed while young.
Production Notes:
A minimal approach to winemaking was taken with these single vineyard wines. At harvest, parcels of fruit were carefully selected from the Wakefield Downs Vineyard in the Awatere Valley. The fruit was quickly crushed and fermented in stainless steel tanks to retain aromatics particular to this unique site. The individual parcels were assessed, blended and lightly fined before bottling.
Technical Notes:
Alcohol: 13.0%
TA: 7.8g/l
pH: 3.25
Residual Sugar: 2.2g/l
Tasting Notes:
A powerful wine, with an impressive array of pungent box-wood, red currents and gooseberry notes. The palate is both fresh and mouth-filling, layered with tropical fruits, passionfruit, guava, underpinned with mineral and lemon zest flavours that linger on the finish.

Wine Writer Reviews
"Brilliant green-hued straw colour with a pale rim. This has a very fine, restrained nose of English gooseberries, white florals, stonefruits, fresh garden herbs and minerals, lifted by fermentation esters. Dry and still very tight and undeveloped, this is a wine of delicacy and fine textured with light gooseberry fruits and florals infused with minerals. The palate is soft and harmonious with balanced acidity and a moderately sustained finish."

"A pungent, concentrated wine with lovely purity. Delicate passion fruit, gooseberry, mineral and aroamtic herb flavours. A wine of subtle power most obviously displayed on a lingering finish."

"From the Awatere Valley, this racy Sauvignon shows delicate aromas of grapefruit, floral and fresh herbs. The palate is taut and finely textured with lovely focus and a lengthy crisp finish. A restrained expression showing mouth-watering flavours."
