Babich Lone Tree Sauvignon Blanc 2011
The Lone Tree label is exclusive to the New Zealand market and is mostly sold in restaurants. From our two estate-owned Hawke’s Bay vineyards, this wine offers a variation to the Marlborough style. You can expect tropical fruit characters with a lingering dry finish.

Production Notes:
The grapes were crushed and pressed at our Auckland winery upon arrival. To enhance the varietal flavour expression, fermentation took place in refrigerated stainless steel tanks at cool temperatures using a variety of yeasts. After 2 months on lees the blend was assembled and bottled.

Tasting Notes:
Attractive musk boxwood and melon notes spring from the glass along with apple and mineral notes. The palate is intensely flavoured with a fruit salad of melons, red currants, gooseberry and apple. On the finish citrus and delicate herbal notes round off this fresh fruited, easy drinking wine.

"Brilliant straw-yellow colour with lemon hues, pale on edge. The bouquet is soft, broad and full with passionfruit, yellow capsicum and ripe tropical fruit aromas. Dry to taste, upfront, pungent passionfruit and ripe tropical fruit flavours feature. The acidity is low and a slight phenolic firmness shows, leading to a light, dry finish. Hawke’s Bay fruit cool-fermented to 13.0% alc. and 4.5 g/L rs, the wine aged on lees. This is a fruity, soft and easily accessible Sauvignon Blanc to serve with antipasto, poultry and vegetables over the next 2 years."
