Production Notes:
The grapes were grown at Babich Wines Gimblett Gravels vineyard in the Hawke's Bay.  A portion of the grapes were fermented with new French oak for added texture and complexity;  the balance were fermented in tank at relatively cool temperatures to capture the pure fruit characters of the variety.  After 10 months the wines were blended and lightly fined.

Tasting Notes:
This wine displays aromas of peach and melon with a hint of citrus.  The palate has a sweet fruit entry with layers of pineapple and white peach, balanced by a creamy texture and mealy notes.  This wine has a long finish with the perfect complement of oak and an acid balance creates a wine that is both fresh and rich, enjoy!

Reviews:
"Fruit-driven style with restrained oak.  Mouth filling and sweet-fruited, with vibrant, citrusy, appley flavours and good weight and texture.  Reminiscent of Chablis, but with gentler acidity."
-Winestate, Michael Cooper's Recent Releases, July 2008

"The 2007 was fermented in a mix of tanks (80 per cent) and new French oak casks (20 per cent).  A fruit-driven style, it is a mouthfilling and sweet-fruited, with vibrant, citrusy, appley flavours and good weight and texture.  It's reminiscent of Chablis, except with gentler acidity."
-Michael Cooper's Buyers Guide to New Zealand Wine 2009

"The biscuit and butterscotch aromas lead to good, consistent fruit flavours through the palate with decent weight and a tight, firm acidity. Fresh and fruity and very enjoyable."
-TiZ Wine.com, February 2009

"An elegant nose displaying white peach, a hint of cream and nutty oak characters. The palate is well fruited showing smooth texture, rounded mouthfeel and well harmonised acidity. An attractive and nicely poised Chardonnay. "

"It's subtle and tight on the nose showing chalky mineral, cashew and a touch of stonefruit characters. The palate is well weighted showing firm acidity and fine texture leading to a lingering dry finish. A youthful and gently flavoured Chardonnay."
