BABICH MARLBOROUGH SAUVIGNON BLANC 2009
Grapes:
100% Sauvignon Blanc
Region:
Marlborough
Winemaker:
Adam Hazeldine
Recommended Food:
Great with seafood or fish meals. Try with fresh oysters!
Recommended Cellaring:
Best enjoyed while young.
Production Notes:
After harvest the grapes were quickly crushed and pressed into stainless steel tanks where the juice was fermented at controlled cool temperatures to capture the intense varietal flavours. The wine was then blended and bottled.
Tasting Notes:
This wine has a bouquet that is bursting with passionfruit, sweat, gooseberry and red current. The palate is rich, sweet fruited and complex with layers of guava, passionfruit and gooseberry. The acid/fruit balance is excellent with a lovely herbal flinty character and a lingering perfume on the finish. This is a reason why Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is so famous. Enjoy!

Reviews:
"Weighty, dry wine with strong, ripe flavours of passionfruit and lime, rich and rounded. This is not a "leap out of the glass" herbaceous style, but it offers great drinkability."

"A terrific wine, declared one judge. The punchy tropical fruit nose has some sweaty elements and the beautiful palate is rich with layers of tropical fruits and citrus."

"Passionfruit - and lots of them. On the nose they abound, in the palate they are sweet, ripe and juicy and to the finish they are elegant and persistent."
-TiZ Wine.com, Dec '09
"The nose is fragrant displaying ripe tropical fruit notes as well as the classic herbaceous and green capsicum characters. The palate is full and intensely flavoured showing a rounded mouth-feel, juicy acidity and a lingering dry finish. An appealing wine with plenty of punchy flavours."
